about
In the winter of 2021 California received warnings of possible tsunamis hitting our shores. Just imagine all that water taking you all at once. You may try to fight it, swim against the current, reach the surface maybe, you'll fight for it I'm sure. But let go, float with it; what sort of clarity might come to you surrounded by all that blue?
This is a song about two things: missing your partner, and the violence that can occur (and often already has occurred) in places of great history. I leaned into the second one for the cover art.
lyrics
The winds are stronger on the beach this year
the water's higher every day
and we are waiting drawing one collective breath
before it reels back to wash us all away.
The palm trees standing in my neighborhood
remind me that I'm close to sea
and you are miles down the coast my love
so when it crashes you'll be swimming without me.
Don't worry baby, I'm nervous too
Tsunami warnings, singing the blues
Don't worry baby, I'm staying true
Currents move faster, think I'll pull through
But if I can't
go without me I'm an anchor it's my mascot it's my history.
If I can't change who I am and what I can't do,
then you'll find my bloated body when the tide rolls in.
Do you feel happy when you put me down?
Feel proud about what you say?
Cause I am waiting for the chords to run dry
so I can drop this, and let the music play.
All of the vices, all of the shame
piles of glasses, lead to false blame.
Whatever the price is, it never gets tamed
rich wines and cheeses, paired with the pain
And since I can't
go without me I'm an anchor it's my mascot it's my history.
If I can't change who I am and what I can't do,
then you'll find my bloated body when the tide rolls
find my bloated body when the tide rolls
find my bloated body when the tide rolls in.

Celestial Cyclops is a trans artist that disperses the greater LA area like a fog.
She has been writing songs for a while but is only just now getting around to actually recording them.
See her art and writing at @celestial_cyclops on instagram!
This probably comes as no surprise, of course I like Miracle Musical. The album's storytelling and wide range of genres alone makes it worth the listen. But they really do work miracles in sound tech. Celestial Cyclops
Their lyrics and riffs echo in my head on a daily basis. Is it lazy to say my favorite album is the latest one? It's hard to even choose a favorite; go listen to their whole discography, over and over Celestial Cyclops
